  Michael Smither cover

Michael Smither

This book pays homage to Michael Smither as a painter and print maker. The sequence in which the paintings appear is based largely, but loosely on the studios in which they were created, thus showing the work as it appeared, from studios all over New Zealand. There are seperate sections for the artist's prints, murals and explorations into the harmonics of colour.

Michael Smither was made a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his services to the arts, 2004.

The book was short listed for the Illustrative Section of the 2005 Montana New Zealand Book Awards.
